With the technology boom and growth of outsourcing industry, India has become one of the sought after destinations for medical coding industry. Anyone who has completed graduation in life sciences is eligible to become a medical coder. Medical coders give codes to the diagnostic and treatment procedures performed by physicians. Having knowledge of medical terminology is an added advantage.

It is undeniable that careers related to healthcare are a bit complicated and require serious efforts to understand the complex human anatomy and medical terminology. This is true with the profession of medical coding as well. However, with proper medical codingtraining, it is not at all a tough task. Medical coding is no rocket science and it can be mastered with appropriate guidance. We have medical coding training institutes inHyderabad that provide a comprehensive course covering all the aspects of medical coding and train the interested candidates to become proficient medical coders.

Why is  coding required?

Coding is a procedure that helps in the medical billing process to recover the costs incurred by medical practitioners in providing services to the patients. Medical coding is the method of assigning codes to the various diagnostic and treatment procedures performed by a healthcare provider. The medical coding system enables accurate categorization of reasons for a patient’s visit to the healthcare facility and thus ensures speedy proceeding of billing and insurance claims.

Is it tough to master?

Medical coding involves learning three different types of coding along with the human anatomy. Though learning these coding types is a bit difficult, it is not a gigantic task. You can master these codes if you have interest and perseverance. As you learn a foreign language, you can learn to code also. The three types of codes that are to be mastered are:

ICD-10 codes: The International Classification of Diseases – 10th edition is one of the three coding systems and has a lot of prominence. These codes are given by the World Health Organization and adopted by many governments in the world. The ICD-10 codes are again classified as ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS.

CPT codes: CPT refers to Current Procedural Terminology and is developed by American Medical Association. CPT is identified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in America.

HCPCS codes: The Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System codes are based on CPT and these are generally used to code supplies and products that are not directly related to a doctor or healthcare provider.

Is coding a challenging task?

Yes. Human anatomy is a complex subject and has many gray areas. But, medical coding is a system where every diagnosis or procedure has to be categorized into codes. If you love challenges, then this career will quench your thirst because recording the complex medical issues into clear codes is challenging.

With proper medical coding training, you can accept this challenge with confidence. Ikya Global is one of the best medical codingtraining institutes in Hyderabad that provides you the perfect launch pad for this profession.

Pro-Tips For Your First Time Interview – Make sure you crack it!

Waiting the lobby for your name to be called while wondering what will be asked and how would you fare while biting nails – Does this scene sound familiar?

The flip side is actual face-to-face interaction with the potential employer is a fab chance to make the best first impression and get hired! Let’s see how you can use it:

1. Know the Company, like really!

The least the potential employer will expect from the candidate is that they do their home work and research about the company. It basically conveys that you are genuinely interested and serious about the role. It is absolutely essential to research well about the company you are applying and really understand their product/service, mission, vision and functions. This information could come handy when you answer a few questions.
This will guarantee a great first impression!

2. The Introduction

‘Tell me about yourself’ is one of the very first and the most predictable question. Not being pepared for this with a kickass answer plain is lame!
Consider this question is an opportunity for you to set the tone of the interview and to help him see the aspects that’s you’d want him to see. Do not waste this opportunity by reciting your resume. Instead prepare before for a short and enthusiastic response that outlines why you are the best fit for the job!

3. What Can You Offer?

Clearly understand the detailed profile and description of the job you are applying for. You answer to this question should clearly justify why you can shine here, each point you make must be supported by an instance where you used the particular ability before.

4. Act Confident

Confidence is the key for all successful endeavors and same applies to interviews as well. Make sure carry yourself in a way that makes you come across as confident (not too smart, mind you). And really be confident, at the moment, whatever you are, you are. Remember faking is no good and will stand right out! So, Acting is a no-no!

5. Never Lie In Your Resume

Never, Never and Never fake anything in your resume – This is the thumb rule! It can backfire and backfire so badly that it may sometimes be difficult to save your face! Remember that the interviewer is fairly experienced and can easily spot the fake bits very very easily. Never write anything in your resume that’s not true!

6. Dress Well

This is one thing that’s often neglected. It’s important to dress in a presentable way (Formal). No loud dressing or glittery jazz. Wear simple, light colors, Freshly washed and Ironed clothes! Look good and smell great – It shows the vibes of confidence!

7. Have Your Questions too

Interviews are not one-sided conversations anymore. Once the interviewer finished his turn to ask questions, take your turn. Ask any questions related to the company or the job you are applying for.. Just ensure they don’t sound arrogant or like a stubborn head.

8. Be Honest

It’s perfectly ok to not know an answer and say it… Faking and stammering is not! If you don’t know the answer for something, simply say so…but do make sure to ask what the answer of that question once the interview is done. This actually talks about your eagerness to learn new things, which is in reality the most admired quality in a potential employee. You’ll bowl them over.

9. Breathe Easy

Anxiety is the most unnecessary emotion that ruins your performance in most interviews. Just take it easy before walking in to the interview room… You have prepared enough, haven’t you? Breath easy – It surely helps.

10. Thank You Mail

Sending a Thank you mail to the employer irrespective of your selection goes a long way in talking of your attitude of gratitude and politeness. Tell them how thankful you are for the opportunity to interact and to learn.

So, do we see a confident you?  All the best!

Medical billers have a very high responsibility to fulfil which makes it a pre-requisite for them to be extremely focused and careful with their duties. Most of the students feel very unsure during their medical billing course if they will ever be able to master the medical terms and all the coding guidelines. Since many candidates consider this a part time occupation they may find it difficult to focus fully on it due to their jobs.

Usually, most medical billing training institutes in Hyderabad and elsewhere allow students learn at their own speed, a few tips and tricks always come handy on how they can optimally utilize their training. Let us now see a few tips that students of medical billing can use to improve and speed-up their learning process.

Learn by heart: Skills and Flash Cards

The medical and anatomical terms and codes, are constants and lack logic. So, the best way to learn these is learn them by heart, which means you must improve your memory. While memorising, it makes sense to start with a few terms at a time and practice those with full focus for a few minutes. Once after mastering those, you may then proceed to a new set of words and then revise the first set. You may repeat this process as you memorize more and more words. Always remember to revise the terms learnt after you return from a break or before starting a new topic to ensure that you remember them well! Though medical billing courses in Hyderabad will provide the required training and back-end theoretical support, you will need to memorize on your own.

A creative and interesting way to memorise medical terms and codes is the use of flashcards. You can buy a set of flashcards for human anatomy and medical terminology or create your own.

Improve Spelling and Typing

You will understand the importance of spellings while doing medical billing training. The best way to master the spellings is to list out the terms are you most often misspell. Practice learning these by writing the spellings multiple times, repeating the letters out aloud and revising these words every time you sit to study.
Medical billing courses in Hyderabad stress the need and absolute importance of accurate and fast typing. The basic requirement of medical is typing fast and in total accuracy. The best way to practice is finding various online typing tests and exercises that are available online for free. Not to mention, it’s also a great way to learn typing in an interesting and fun way!

Beside the above tips, there are few generic things that we advise you to practice, like, eating healthy, sitting in the right posture as you will be required to stay seated for long stretches, and maintain over all good health. What can further go a long way in helping you learn better is to interact with your fellow students and also the trainers. Sharing concerns and experiences with one another always adds to knowledge!

Ikya Global is one of the few best medical billing training institutes in Hyderabad that offer training at affordable prices along with placement assistance and certification.

How to Find Hidden Jobs and Get Employed ASAP

Hidden jobs? Don’t worry! Nothing illegal here! A hidden job is simply a job that is not advertised, posted on social media or on job search portals. Imagine the chances of getting employed if you simply know where to look for a hidden job, especially because there are often a lesser number of candidates to compete with!

That does not mean that a hidden job is not worth applying for. Most hiring managers simply ask their employees to refer someone for a particular vacancy, post these jobs on personal networks so their close ones can refer someone, or simply inform recruitment agencies about the vacancy.

The bigger your network is, the more vacancies will be brought to your notice. Increase your network by interacting with other job seekers at job fairs, by starting or joining a job search support group, networking with attenders of industry seminars, volunteering at events, and trade unions. You can also get information from Chambers of Commerce to know about start-ups, which are more likely to have numerous challenging job vacancies.

3. Tap the Power of Search Engines
Now, search engines won’t really list out job postings. But, they are still agreat tool to find hidden jobs. Search for keywords such as “hiring”, “recruitment” etc. in Google News Search to find news about local companies. Often, companies announce in press releases that they are hiring or will be having many vacancies soon.
